Welcome to Webbys Walks.
Webbys Walks is my youtube channel, every Saturday morning I add a new walking video to the channel, with an occasional video on a Wednesday afternoon.
I started by walking the local canals and tried to video every canal in the West Midlands in stages so I could do a detailed video accompanied by relaxing music and cover every bridge, lock and tunnel along the way. I start at a specific point and finish at a specific point, In a series where I finish part 1, I will begin from the same place in part 2, and so on. trying to create a network of videos to cover the entire canal section, where possible finishing at a canal junction or fixed point where I can start other walks from. These start points are depicted on my maps by a black dot.
I then started to walk smaller trails on Cannock Chase and other areas before beginning The Wales Coast Path, which we try and visit around once a month. Other long distance trails then began, like Beacon Way, Heart of England Way and now The Staffordshire Way. I like to add a webpage for each video I walk, which can be found on this website, as well as a map and photographs taken along the way. I have more recently tried a new series called Webby Explores where I create a route along a river of old canal or railway and I talk a bit more on those. I also walk random places, like around a lake, a town or city, or place on a day out. I video it all and edit it and put it on the channel.
Before setting off on a Wales Coast Path or long distance trail, the first thing I do is make myself a map. so I will find a map of a route that I wish to walk and try and draw a line onto google maps of the intended route (A rough idea of where the route is) sometimes I get these slightly wrong, after walking a route I correct the line (If I can) and these are the maps you see on this website. If you full screen a map while you are out and about on your phone, the idea is you can use my maps as guidance. Let me know how that works out for you. Once I have the map, its check the weather (the night before the walk) and plan any public transport, busses and train times before we set off. Then it's time to pack the bag, waterproofs, water, basic first aid and a bit of food, camera and drone and off we go. I use a Go Pro, and sometimes my phone (For the talking bits where my head is in the corner of the screen or any bits that need a zoom in.
