Q. I filled out the intent form, now what do I do?
A: After the intent form is filled out, your child/ren will either:
Wait for the registration information that will be emailed early September.
Q: How many people per hotel room, and how are roommates chosen?
A: The cost of the trip is determined based on four students per room.
There are options for smaller room size, but the cost varies based on number of roommates.
In the spring before the trip, we will have an after school meeting where students will select who they want to room with. More details on this process will be available later.
Q: How do I know which flight my child will be on?
A: Airlines, flights, and seats are determined closer to the DC trip after students have chosen their roommates. We will try our best to make sure they are on the same airplane as their roommates and siblings.
Q. What information will my child need in order to fly across the country?
A: From tsa.gov: “TSA does not require children under 18 to provide identification when traveling with a companion within the United States.”
Q: Are parents able to chaperone?
A: Because our staff have been trained to work with groups of teenagers, WMS Staff are asked to chaperone our DC trip first.
Depending on need, we may have a few spots available for parents to chaperone the Washington DC trip. If you are interested, there will be a question on the survey for you to fill out.
If asked to chaperone, parent chaperones must get a background check.
The cost is the same as it is for the teens who are attending for a quad room. If you would like to switch to triple, double, or single occupancy, the price increases. The trip cost does cover all meals, ticketed entrances, lodging, and airfare. Based on this information, please let me know if you would still like to chaperone
Please note parent chaperones are not guaranteed.
Q: My child cannot attend the whole trip, is my child able to leave early or meet you there?
A: Unfortunately, not. The best option for attending this trip is to ride with our students to Washington DC and back.
