Lucent Nargacuga, as variant Nargacuga, was firstly introduced in MH3G. It has an interesting design – still a Nargacuga, but with very different movements and hitzones. The invisibility may sound at first, but it actually does little to affect the fight. The real threats come from the Poison stings that last surprisingly long once hit, and the much shorter windows of opportunity between its movements.
Before mastering Lucent Nargacuga's moves, it feels surprisingly tough – much tougher than Gold Rathian or Silver Rathalos in Tower. However, once you learn the rhythm, the fight feels even smoother than those two. Additionally, Lucent Nargacuga offers one of the best weapon series in MH3G – alongside the Brachydios series – so it is definitely worth the grind!
I really like hunting or grinding against Lucent Nargacuga:
It has a low spawn rate for its rarest part – the Cloudy Moonshard – a must to upgrade every Lucent Nargacuga weapon to their final forms.
It has medium health but terrible hitzones.
It is not even that weak to its primary elemental weakness – Ice.
It is resistant to Poison reasonably, and not particularly weak to Paralysis or Sleep – this is where Blast truly shines.
All weapons in the Brachydios series perform well against it, but the best? Undoubtedly, the legendary Slingshot. Coming with overpowered Blast damage, we still need to deal with the survival side. Similar to fighting a normal Nargacuga, Evasion is crucial here to make the fight smoother; without any Evasion skills, this fight reaches another level of difficulty. While Evasion +1 is usually enough in this scenario, nothing can beat extra frames of invincibility. With a god-tier charn, there exists a theoretically optimal or perfect build modified from Golden Rune armour set:
Great Luck: For farming those elusive Cloudy Moonshards.
Awaken and Bombardier: To bring the legendary Slingshot to its full potential.
Evasion +1: To make sure the entire fight smooth and safe.
Partbreaker: Very useful against some other monsters, but not the case here. Anyway, it comes with the set so why not?
Hunting Lucent Nargacuga with this build is incredibly fun and rewarding.
