Principal Investigator, Group Leader
Prof. Wei-Min Liu is a well-trained chemist with a broad research background spanning multiple areas of chemical and biochemical research. His expertise includes the development of novel synthetic methodologies, the design and synthesis of antibacterial agents, protein expression and modification, and the application of paramagnetic NMR techniques to investigate interactions between proteins and their molecular partners, including small molecules and other proteins. Currently, his research focuses on molecular design, employing organic synthesis to construct innovative molecular architectures and to explore the functional properties of synthesized compounds for diverse applications, such as the targeting of specific biomolecules through fluorescent signaling and the development of molecular rotor–based photocatalysts for efficient reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation. In addition, his group is actively developing new synthetic methodologies, particularly those utilizing S-ylides and N-ylides for the efficient construction of heterocyclic frameworks.
