Applications are invited for PhD positions in the following areas:
This project aims to develop adaptive and programmable metamaterials whose mechanical, acoustic, or wave properties can be dynamically reconfigured in response to external stimuli such as mechanical, electrical, magnetic, or thermal inputs. The research will combine architected materials, smart materials, and active control to create multifunctional systems capable of adapting to changing environments.
This project focuses on developing computational and AI-powered approaches for the discovery and design of architected materials that manipulate sound, vibration, and elastic waves with unprecedented precision. The research will integrate physics-based modelling, numerical optimisation, and machine learning to discover novel metamaterials with enhanced performance and multifunctionality.
This project explores emerging concepts in topological wave physics and non-Hermitian dynamics to develop metamaterials with robust and unconventional wave-transport and localization capabilities. The research will combine theoretical modeling, computational simulations, advanced manufacturing, and experimental validation.

IITB Research Internship Award is designed to be an educational and professional research experience. These awards are available for specific research projects. The details of these projects are made available to the candidates so that they can apply for projects of their interest and can prepare themselves well for a rigorous selection procedure. The number of interns will be restricted to the number of projects available. The selected interns are required to work full time for four to six months on the project and will be given a fixed stipend of Rs. 15,000/- per month.
