Two Days hands on Workshop on Microstrip Antenna Design
Two day hands on workshop titled “Low-profile Microstrip Antenna design” was organized by Electrical Engineering Department at FAST Peshawar Campus on 27th November 2010. Diverse participation was observed. Two faculty members from SARHAD University Peshawar, two faculty members from CECOS University, one faculty member from NWFP UET Peshawar and one faculty member from IQRA University participated. Moreover, 38 students from our own campus participated. The workshop covered the basic theory of Antenna Design and then the Microstrip antenna was analytically designed. Simulation of the design was done through Microwave CAD "PUFF". Antenna was practically fabricated on FR4 Substrate at Engineering Workshop and after formal refreshments Certificates were distributed.
Antennas designed and Exhibited by Batch 5 Students
The antennas were designed as their course projects and exhibited on November 2008. I really appreciate the efforts of Batch 5 students who made it a reality!. The Exhibition attracted lot of audience including students as well as faculty members.
The designed antennas include: Loop Antenna, Log-periodic Antenna, GPS-Antenna, Yagi-Uda Antenna, triangular microstrip patch Antenna, dipole Antenna, Helical Antenna, monopole Antenna, directional Cantenna and alike.
I really appreciate the efforts of Bacth 8 Students for completing their course projects. All students participated with great enthusiasm and devotion. The Exhibition and competition of Projects created very good learning environment for their fellow students as well as visitors.

Workshop on Microstrip Simulation and Design in PUFF CAD
A two hour workshop was held on Thursday 6th October 2008 on the design of "Microstrip Simulation using PUFF" arranged by Electrical Engineering Department NU-FAST. Mr. Waqar Ahmad Malik delivered lecture on the calculations and theory leading to microst
rip design.22 students attended the workshop. PUFF software was used to design the microstrip. Initially lecture was delivered. Then the installation procedure of puff was explained. The values calculated via smith chart were given as input to PUFF to get the length and position of microstrip.
Microwave Circuits designed, fabricated and tested on Vector Network Analyzer
Various microwave circuits were designed and fabricated by Batch 5 students. A trip to COMSATS Islamabad was arranged for testing and measurements of the designed circuits. I would like to Thank Dr. Amjad Hussain (Director FAST Peshawar Campus) and COMSATS Islamabad administration for providing us all possible help in doing measurements on Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) at Microwave LAB COMSATS Islamabad.
I Remember my beloved Friend Mr.LUQMAN QADIR (LATE) who accompanied me on this trip to Islamabad. May ALLAH s.w.t bless Luqman and bestow his special mercy on him. Ameen. Indeed he was a MAN I can't forget.
