What Lydia had to say in 2023: Hi all! My name is Lydia and I am a second year in the psychological sciences M.S. program. I started collaborating with the neurodiversity lab in the summer between my first and second year to gain experience working with different mentors and diversify my research experiences. I’m particularly interested in researching attitudes and perceptions of children with autism and their caregivers! Next fall I am starting my PhD in clinical psychology and hope to continue working with neurodiverse individuals and their families both in my research and clinical work.

What Sreya had to say in 2023: Hi! My name is Sreya Mallipeddi and I am a senior majoring in Neuroscience and minoring in Asian & Pacific Islander American studies on the pre- med track. I have been in the Autism Lab since sophomore year and I am currently working on an honors thesis exploring how behaviors depicted in television portrayals of autism impact peoples’ perceptions of individuals with autism. Outside of the lab I am involved with Pineapple Kids Tutoring, College Red Cross, and the South Asian Student Association.

What Kenzi had to say in 2023: Hi! My name is Kenzi Fergus and I am a senior majoring in Neuroscience and minoring in Biochemistry on the pre-med track. I joined the Autism lab my sophomore year and have loved the opportunity to work on a variety of projects including those examining behavioral aspects of autism as well as societal attitudes words individuals with Autism. I am currently working on an honors thesis looking into the role of emoticons in social attention in individuals with autistic traits ans social anxiety. Outside of the lab, I scribe at Lackey Free clinic and serve as confidential peer advocate at the Haven.

What Kellsey had to say in 2023: Hello! My name is Kellsey Carter, and I am a senior majoring in Kinesiology & Health Sciences on the premedical track. I joined the Autism Lab during my freshman year and have loved it ever since! Throughout my four years, I have been involved in research projects on EEG emotion recognition, eye tracking, and attitudes towards individuals with autism spectrum disorder. Outside of my involvement in the lab, I am a part of Student Assembly, Minorities in Medicine, and Lafayette HS Tutoring.

I’ve been a member of the Autism lab since the fall of my junior year and working in this lab has helped me improve my data collecting and procedural skills. I have a specific interest in studying ASD and other neurodivergent conditions, so being in this lab has given me first hand experience in that field of research. Outside of the lab, you’ll find me working on my art projects and baking/cooking for friends.
