Hello!
My name is Robert Perez, and I am your (child's) band director at South Fork Junior High.
This is my 12th year teaching band. I started teaching at Westside Jr High and moved to Walker Jr when Westside split. Now I am at the beautiful new South Fork Jr High. Before that I was at Southeastern getting my Masters degree in Clarinet Performance and before that my Bachelor's in Music Education. Clarinet is my main instrument and I started playing music when I was in 6th grade.
Most of the people I know and hold dear to me came to be through and because of music. I still regularly play games (D&D) with some of my band friends from high school, and most of my college friends are either teaching with me somewhere in Livingston parish or involved in music in some way. My father was a band director and musician for many years and I supposed I've just followed in his footsteps. My wife, however, is not a musician; so she helps me bring some variety to my life.
If I'm not talking about band or teaching stuff I'm probably talking about kayaking, Dungeons & Dragons, painting, or cooking/baking. I have a lot of pets and I just seem to keep getting more. I have, 2 extremely fluffy cats (Nimbus and Bagheera), and 6 chickens. I live in Hammond (about 30 minutes away from Walker) and I really enjoy spending time with my friends and my wife.
