About the Director
Hello!
My name is Robert Perez, and I am your (child's) band director at Walker Junior High.
This is my 4th year at Walker Junior high and before this I was one of the band directors at Westside Junior High for 5 years. Before that I was at Southeastern getting my Masters degree in Clarinet Performance and before that my Bachelor's in Music Education. Clarinet is my main instrument and I started playing music when I was in 6th grade.
Most of the people I know and hold dear to me came to be through and because of music. I still regularly play games (D&D) with some of my band friends from high school, and most of my college friends are either teaching with me somewhere in Livingston parish or involved in music in some way. My father was a band director and musician for many years and I supposed I've just followed in his footsteps. My wife, however, is not a musician; so she helps me bring some variety to my life.
If I'm not talking about band or teaching stuff I'm probably talking about kayaking, Dungeons & Dragons, painting, or cooking/baking. I have a lot of pets and I just seem to keep getting more. I have a retired racing greyhounds (Atti), 2 extremely fluffy cats (Nimbus and Bagheera), and 2 chickens (June, Billie). I live in Hammond (about 30 minutes away from Walker) and I really enjoy spending time with my friends and my wife.
