STEM Fair
We created the STEM Fair to expose Mathalon participants and their families to the diverse fields in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. We are excited to welcome numerous UC Davis and Davis Senior High School groups at the 2023 STEM Fair.
The STEM Fair will take place after the math competition and pizza lunch. Families, siblings, and friends of participants are welcome to come to the STEM Fair and the subsequent awards ceremony.
Citrus Circuits
Citrus Circuits' team strives to reach out and encourage STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education in their community, primarily through their student-led outreach groups. These outreach groups focus on using their technical skills to help individuals and groups in their community, as well as inspire students to get involved with STEM. They have started more than 100 youth robotics teams and mentored another 75 in the past two years and worked with students at summer camps held by UC Davis.
Physics Club
"We focus on making physics an enjoyable topic for physics majors and nonmajors alike by focusing on spreading information about careers/grad school, helping out with coursework and class schedules, and getting faculty involved with undergraduates interested in special topics. "
Project Catalyst
Project Catalyst is a UC Davis organization that works with local elementary schools in Yolo County and college students to inspire youth interest in science. By providing after-school tutoring and hands-on science experiments, we hope to give students a fun learning environment where they can foster a love for STEM.
Science Olympiad
The Davis Senior High Science Olympiad Club has competed since 2019 as a Division C team in the Sacramento Region of Northern California. As of the 2022-2023 season, the club consists of two teams each composed of 15 members, who compete in a total of 23 STEM-based events on the topics of earth science, engineering, chemistry, biology, physics, math, and more. The club has competed at regional and state competitions such as the Aggie Invitational, the Duke Invitational, and the Golden Gate Invitational, and is on its way to its third state competition after achieving 2nd place at the 2023 Sacramento Regionals.
COFFEE
The Club of Future Female Electrical Engineers (COFFEE) at UC Davis aims to promote academics, retention, and community among women in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department.
Willow Dental Clinic
The Willow Dental Clinic is one of the few student-run free dental clinics operating in Sacramento, CA. They provide free dental services to those experiencing homelessness in Sacramento. Staffed and operated almost exclusively by undergraduate volunteers from UC Davis, they provide otherwise unattainable dental services to their patients in conjunction with local dental professionals who contribute their own time and supplies for these procedures. Their goal is to expand the services and supplies they provide in order to provide further support during recovery for their patients.
