1. About WishShelf
WishShelf is a book wishlist and bookshelf-scanning app designed to help users manage books they want to find and identify possible wishlist matches on real-world bookshelves.
This Privacy Policy explains what information WishShelf collects, why it is used, how it is processed and the choices available to users.
By using WishShelf, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
2. Information We Collect
Depending on how you use WishShelf, we may process:

Email address
User account identifier
Profile information you choose to provide
Account and Premium status
Wishlist information
Book titles and authors
ISBNs and book-cover information where available
Wishlist status, such as books you are looking for or have found
Books imported through supported CSV import features
Bookshelf scans When you use the bookshelf-scanning feature, WishShelf processes the photograph you select or take and information detected from that image.

bookshelf photographs
book titles and other text detected in photographs
scan results
possible matches against your wishlist
information required to display AI Highlight results
App and feature information WishShelf may process information necessary to operate and improve the service, such as:
feature usage
scan usage and allowance
reported incorrect matches
error or diagnostic information
app version
subscription entitlement information
3. How We Use Your Information
Information is used to:
create and maintain your WishShelf account
store and display your personal book wishlist
import supported book-list data
analyse bookshelf photographs
identify text and books within photographs
compare detected books with your wishlist
provide scan results and AI Highlight features
manage free Highlight Scan allowances
determine whether Premium features are available to your account
respond to feedback and incorrect-match reports
maintain security and prevent misuse
diagnose technical problems
improve the reliability and functionality of WishShelf

WishShelf does not sell your personal information.
4. Bookshelf Photos and AI Processing
WishShelf uses image recognition, optical character recognition (OCR), AI and related technologies to analyse bookshelf photographs.
When you submit a shelf image, the photograph and information extracted from it may be processed by third-party technology providers where necessary to perform the scan.
The purpose of this processing is to identify books and text, compare possible books against your wishlist and provide relevant scan results.
AI and image-recognition systems are not always accurate. WishShelf may occasionally miss books or return incorrect matches.
Users should avoid including unnecessary personal or sensitive information in bookshelf photographs.
5. Third-Party Services
WishShelf relies on trusted third-party services to provide parts of the app.
These may include:
Google Firebase
Used for services such as authentication, database functionality, file storage and other backend services.
AI, OCR and image-analysis providers
Used to process bookshelf images and detected text where required to provide scanning functionality.
RevenueCat
Used to help manage Premium subscription entitlements and determine whether a user has access to paid features.
Google Play
Used to process Android app purchases and subscriptions.
WishShelf does not receive or store your full payment-card details when you purchase a subscription through Google Play.
Third-party providers process information according to their own privacy practices and applicable agreements.
6. WishShelf Premium and Subscription Information
If you subscribe to WishShelf Premium, information relating to your subscription may be processed so that WishShelf can determine whether Premium features should be available to your account.
This may include:
subscription status
product or subscription type
entitlement status
purchase and renewal information
information necessary to restore purchases
Payments for Android subscriptions are handled through Google Play rather than directly by WishShelf.
7. Data Storage and Security
WishShelf uses appropriate technical and organisational measures designed to protect user information.
Account, wishlist and app information may be stored using Google Firebase services.
Access to user-specific information is restricted through authentication and database security controls.
However, no internet-based service can guarantee absolute security.
8. How Long We Keep Information
Personal information is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide WishShelf, maintain accounts, meet legitimate operational requirements or comply with applicable legal obligations.
Some information may remain temporarily in backups or technical systems after deletion before being automatically removed through normal system processes.
Where third-party providers process information on WishShelf's behalf, their applicable retention practices may also apply.
9. Account and Data Deletion
Users may request deletion of their WishShelf account and associated personal information.
Where an account-deletion feature is available within the app, users may use that feature. Users may also contact WishShelf Support to request assistance.
Certain information may need to be retained where required by law, for fraud prevention, security, dispute resolution or legitimate record-keeping requirements.
Deleting a WishShelf account does not necessarily cancel an active Google Play subscription. Subscriptions should also be managed or cancelled through Google Play.
10. Data Sharing
WishShelf does not sell users' personal information.
Information may be shared with service providers only where reasonably necessary to operate WishShelf, provide requested features, process subscriptions, maintain security or comply with legal requirements.
We may also disclose information where required by law or where reasonably necessary to protect the rights, safety or security of WishShelf, its users or others.
11. Children's Privacy
WishShelf is not intended for children under the age of 13.
WishShelf does not knowingly seek to collect personal information directly from children under 13.
If you believe a child has provided personal information to WishShelf inappropriately, please contact WishShelf Support.
12. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights relating to your personal information, including rights to:
request access to personal information held about you
request correction of inaccurate information
request deletion of your information
object to or restrict certain processing
request information about how your data is used
make a complaint to the relevant data-protection authority

13. International Processing
Some technology providers used by WishShelf may process information outside the United Kingdom.
Where personal information is transferred internationally, appropriate safeguards are used where required by applicable data-protection law.

WishShelf may update this Privacy Policy as the app develops, services change or legal requirements are updated.
The latest version will be made available through WishShelf and the "Last updated" date will be changed accordingly.
