The first workshop in this series, WISH 2010 was co-hosted with CHI 2010. From 2011-2014, WISH was co-hosted with the Annual Symposium of the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA). In 2016, WISH began to alternate between being hosted at the AMIA Symposium and at the ACM CHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems. Every WISH event in the past has been well-attended and well-received by the community. WISH was last held at AMIA in 2020, and after a successful event at CHI 2023, we are looking to reconvene at AMIA in 2025. The symposium also aims to actively provide mentoring opportunities to junior and new health technology researchers – from undergraduates to mid-career researchers who want to focus on interactive systems in Healthcare.
