BNR 2024 Recap

The 2024 Winnie Bs National Rally was held on North Carolina’s Outer Banks in early May. We enjoyed pleasant weather including ever present winds. It was our largest rally to date with 128 rigs and 208 campers in attendance. Camp Hatteras was a wonderful venue with full hookups on concrete pads on both the sound and ocean sides of the island. We held most of our events in the spacious Conference Center (aka The Beehive). We had a nice mix of veteran Winnie Bs, plenty of newer members along with a few former Bees.

Activities included a wine tasting event as well as a beer tasting event organized by Crystal Griepentrog and Karen Burns. Bingo and Trivia also proved to be very popular activities. Educational sessions included a Q&A for Newbies and Oldies, Shopping for your Van, Artificial Intelligence (AI) Travel Planning, There’s an App for That, Van Care, Van Power (electric), Solo Traveling, Full Timing, and a Q&A with Winnebago, Airxcel and Truma. The Book Club had a lively discussion of “The Wright Brothers” by David McCullough. Some of us played pickleball, mini-golf and flew our kites. 

We enjoyed a presentation by John Griffin about the nearby Chicamacomico Lifesaving Station and a talk by a local pirate. As always, we enjoyed some meals together including a pre-rally Cinco de Mayo gathering, a meal from nearby Lisa’s Pizza and a meal from Forket-Me-Not, a local food truck. 

We are looking forward to BNR 2025 somewhere west of the Mississippi.
