Gordon Royce graduated from Windsor High School with the Class of 1953. During his time at Windsor High (previously John Fitch High School) Gordon earned a total of 11 letters in Soccer, Basketball, and Baseball. He served as Captain for both the Basketball and Baseball teams. In addition to his physical abilities on the court and field, Gordon was a model participant, earning a letter of commendation for sportsmanship from Principal Samuel Crockett.
Gordon was a well-rounded student at Windsor High. In addition to his athletic participation he was also a member of the Glee Club, Choir, and served on the Tunxis Yearbook staff.
After Windsor High School, Gordon attended New Britain State College. While there he signed a professional baseball contract with the Brooklyn Dodgers and pitched for their minor league team in the Appalachian League for two seasons.
Gordon was drafted into the United States Navy where he served in Special Forces. He was able to utilize his baseball skills to play baseball during a Mediterranean tour as part of an effort to entertain the troops.
After the Navy, Gordon settled down and married his high school sweetheart, Abby. Together they raised four daughters – Kathy, Sheila, Amy, and Rachel.
After retirement, Gordon’s love of the game continued. For the last 15 years of his life he enjoyed playing softball with the Senior Softball League in Palm Beach County, Florida.
Pete graduated from Windsor High School in 1976. While there, he earned varsity letters in soccer, basketball and baseball. He was named to the All-Central Valley Conference teams in soccer & baseball, and to the Class LL All-State team in baseball. Pete was equally focused on academics, and was inducted into the National Honor Society in 1975 and subsequently graduated with High Distinction being named the 1976 Dr. Earl S. Russell Scholar.
Pete was lucky enough to team up with talented players, coaches and student managers that allowed him to participate on two Central Valley Conference Championship baseball teams, one Class LL state tournament quarterfinal baseball team, and one Class LL state tournament semifinal baseball team. He contributed by posting team leading batting averages of .485 his junior year and .422 his senior year. In those same seasons his pitching records were 7-2 and 11-2 respectively.
Pete attended Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio where he played on their #1 nationally ranked baseball team. He was fortunate to play on multiple Ohio Athletic Conference and NCAA Mideast Regional Championship teams as well as play in multiple College World Series tournaments. Baseball honors included being named to the All-Ohio Valley Conference team, the All-NCAA Region IV team, and the All-Tournament team at the College World Series. He graduated from Marietta in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering and was inducted into Pi Epsilon Tau, the national petroleum engineering honor society.
Following college, Pete’s career path eventually led him and his family to Louisiana where he was the Director of Engineering for a Fortune 500 company. He’s still living in Louisiana, participating in oil & gas ventures and providing management oversight to a group of privately held energy related companies. Pete and his wife Linda have been married 38 years and are blessed with six children and three granddaughters.
Chuck graduated from Windsor High School in 1978. While there, he lettered in football, hockey and baseball. During Chuck’s time at Windsor High he earned eight varsity letters and was a Central Valley All Conference honoree on five occasions. Chuck was selected as the starting catcher for All District baseball team. Chuck was awarded the much sought after Windsor Cup Award signifying an athlete who earned seven or more varsity letters during their three years at Windsor High. Chuck was a starter on the 1975 CVC championship football team and was also a twenty plus goal scorer in both his junior and senior season for the hockey team at Windsor High.
After high school Chuck played both baseball and football at the college level while earning his degree from Westfield State University. After graduating from college Chuck continued his athletic career for several more years playing on several hockey teams in his home town.
Chuck presently lives in Saratoga, New York with his wife Laura and has two children Connor and Arianna. Chuck currently travels extensively for work in the retirement industry.
Chuck is the third member from his family to be inducted into the Hall of Fame following his brother (2012) and father (2015).
Margaret graduated from Windsor High School in 1990, where she earned eleven varsity letters, three all CCC-West honors, and honorable mention All-State for basketball. She also earned the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference scholar athlete award. Margaret ran cross-country and earned varsity letters in her freshman and sophomore years as well as all CCC-West in her sophomore year, before deciding to give field hockey a try and earning varsity letters in her junior and senior years. Margaret also ran track, running the 800, 1600 and 3200 and earning varsity letters her freshman, sophomore and junior years, before deciding to take senior year off to relax and enjoy the final months of high school.
Basketball was Margaret’s favorite sport. She played varsity basketball all four years in high school, earning all CCC-West honors twice and honorable mention All-State senior year. She scored over 1,000 points in her high school career. She was captain of the basketball team senior year, during which the team won the CCC-West championship.
Margaret played basketball at Trinity College in Hartford and also at University College Galway during her junior year study abroad in Ireland. She graduated from Trinity with a BA in English, and also earned a Masters in Social Work from UCONN.
Margaret lives in Irvington, New York with her husband Donny and two children Riley and Colton. She is a Partner at Mainspring Consulting, a consulting firm that provides research and strategic planning services for foundations, government agencies, and nonprofits.
Cindy graduated from Windsor High School in 1994. During her four years she earned a total of 10 varsity letters in soccer, basketball, and lacrosse combined while maintaining an A- grade average. Cindy began her sports career at an early age playing soccer, basketball and softball for the town of Windsor recreation teams and CYO basketball for St. Gabriel’s. Soccer was the first team she joined at Windsor High playing on the JV team her freshman year and varsity team her sophomore through senior year. She was fortunate enough to play defense on the 1991 class L State Championship team which finished the season with an overall record of 21-3. Cindy was named captain of the soccer team her senior year. Along with soccer Cindy enjoyed playing center on the junior varsity lacrosse team her freshman year and varsity team her sophomore through senior year. Cindy was named captain of the lacrosse team her senior year. Her favorite sport, however, was basketball. Cindy played shooting guard on the varsity team for the Warriors all four years and was named captain both her junior and senior year. Cindy also played basketball in the CT Nutmeg state games and on the CT Starters AAU team for four years between the ages of 11 through 15 competing in national tournaments in New Orleans, Shreveport, Amarillo, and West Virginia.
Cindy was named to the Central Connecticut All Conference Team for basketball her sophomore, junior, senior year, and for lacrosse her junior and senior year. In addition, she was named to the Central CT All-Academic Team for both soccer and basketball her senior year. Before she graduated Cindy was honored as the Windsor Booster Club Athlete of the Year.
After graduating Cindy received a scholarship to play basketball at Franklin Pierce College in Rindge, NH. She was a leader on the court earning the starting point guard position for the Ravens. To this day she is still the 13th all-time leader in career steals with 161 total and 6th in career assists with 457. Cindy received numerous academic honors and was named female student athlete of the year her senior year. She graduated on the Dean’s Honors List with a 3.87 grade point average earning her BA in Accounting.
Cindy went on to become a CPA and is currently the Controller and Chief Compliance Officer for a hedge fund in Fairfield county. She lives in Connecticut with her husband Tim and their two children Andrew and Delia.
Shani Grey graduated from Windsor High School in 2006, lettering in basketball and track and field. During Shani’s time at Windsor High, she was named to the All-Conference team all four years. She was captain her senior year, with four letters and the All-State award in the year 2004. Shani was not a starter at WHS on the girl's basketball team. In her first game on the freshman team, she proved to herself and the coaches that she deserved to play on the varsity team. She stayed as a starter until she graduated in the year 2006. Shani was a double-digit scorer most games with rebounds too.
After WHS, Shani attended Virginia Polytechnical State University in Blacksburg, VA where she earned her degree in Sociology. While at Virginia Tech, she was a member of the Women’s Basketball team for three and a half years.
Shani currently resides in Windsor, CT with her Fiancé Kareem Powell and her two sons (London and Julian Powell). She currently works as an Associate Instructor for CREC and as a Residential Technician for Oak Hill School for the Blind.

Vinnie, “Coach C” to his players over the years, has worked and coached at Windsor High School for over 20 years. In 1994, he started in Windsor as a girls’ volleyball coach and continued to coach both volleyball and tennis for many years. The following year in 1995, Vinnie was hired to coach JV girls’ basketball and in 1996 was named the varsity girls coach becoming the fourth varsity coach in four years. Vinnie brought stability and experience to the program- working numerous basketball camps, attending many clinics and coaching AAU waiting for his dream of becoming a varsity coach.
In 17 years coaching basketball in Windsor, Vinnie not only amassed 266 victories and only 116 losses, but many successes and highlights along the way. Over the years, his girls’ basketball teams have made two finals, three semifinals, five quarterfinals, and won the CCC league title six times. In all 16 years, his team qualified for the state tournament.
In addition to being a varsity girls basketball coach, Vinnie has continued his love of the game in the off season as an AAU coach with the Connecticut Starters for 18 years. Most memorable was in 2007 when Vinnie coached his 14-year old team to a Division II National Championship in Virginia Beach. Although not currently coaching girls’ basketball at Windsor High School, Vinnie still coaches other sports when he can. He still works at Windsor High School as an administrative assistant which he has done for the past 9 years.
Vinnie lives in Windsor Locks with his wife, Michelle, and their 3-year old daughter, Madeline, the love of his life. When he is not coaching, Vinnie is playing with Maddie, watching the Boston Red Sox and Dallas Cowboys on TV or is golfing.
The 2003-2004 Lady Warriors won the first CIAC Class LL Girl’s State Basketball Championship in Windsor High School history by defeating Fairfield 53-38 at Central Connect State University.
The CCC- West Champions and CCC league champion Lady Warriors finished the 2003-2004 season with a 26-2 record, winning their last 21 games of the season.
The Lady Warriors were voted the #1 ranked team in Connecticut by the Hartford Courant and voted #2 by the New Haven Register.
The 1964 golf team was Windsor High School’s first-ever state championship team, and to date, the only golf team to achieve this honor. They finished the season with 9 wins and 1 loss and won the CIAC Championship in May 1964 with an aggregate team score of 317 strokes. The team was led by Coach John Meyers. The team members were Larry Asten, Bobby Doolittle, Larry Young, and John Meyers, Jr., the coach’s son.
