Ken graduated from Windsor High School in 1977, lettering in Football, Basketball and Track. During Ken's time at Windsor High, he captained the football team his senior season, while earning All-Central Valley Conference honors. Additionally, Ken was awarded the coveted Windsor Cup, signifying a player who earned seven or more varsity letters during their three years at Windsor High School.
Ken was a starter on the 1975 CVC Championship football team, was a double digit scorer on the basketball team during both his junior and senior seasons, and long jumped over 20 feet in track. Ken also participated in the 220 yard dash and was a member of the 4 x 440 relay team.
Ken attended Susquehanna University in Pennsylvania after Windsor High School. While earning his degree, Ken was a four year letter winner and three year starter for the Crusaders' Football team.
Ken lives in Colchester, CT with his wife, Wallis, and has three children. He works for the software company, EFI, as a Sales Rep.
Lauren graduated from Windsor High School in 1979, where she earned seven varsity letters, received Central Valley Conference Honors in field hockey, basketball and track, and was awarded the Windsor Cup. She co-captained the 1977 and 1978 field hockey teams and led the '78 team to a state championship, scoring the winning goal in the final game against Greenwich. Lauren was Windsor High's junior and senior class president, and was responsible for organizing homecoming parades, proms and numerous painting expeditions to "The Rock;" which came into existence her first year at WHS. Lauren went on to attend the University of Rhode Island, where she studied Human Development and Family Studies.
After moving to Suffield, CT in 1985, Lauren coached recreational field hockey, soccer and travel basketball, and cheered on her two daughters, Lindsay and Leah, as they competed in NEPSAC field hockey, soccer, swimming, water polo and lacrosse, at Suffield Academy. She served as a member of Suffield's Board of Education, President of the Suffield Foundation for Excellent Schools, and currently serves as Chairman for The Suffield Observer, the town's local newspaper. Lauren's professional career consisted of advertising sales, media buying, teaching and education administration. She recently retired as the principal of Heritage Academy in Longmeadow, MA. She currently resides in East Longmeadow, MA and enjoys captaining one of her four USTA Tennis teams, skiing with her husband Larry, and, when she's not being active, relaxing on the beach with a good book.
Lisa graduated from Windsor High School in 1982, where she earned nine varsity letters, six All-Central Valley Conference Honors, two-time honorable mention in basketball and All-State team honors in softball. She excelled in softball, playing third base, basketball as a forward; and a field hockey sweeper. Lisa was a member of the 1980 Class LL runner-up girls' basketball team and the 1981 CVC championship field hockey team. In her senior year, Lisa captained all three teams, was a recipient of the Windsor Cup Award and voted Windsor High School Female Athlete of the Year.
Lisa played field hockey and softball at Ithaca College her freshmen and sophomore year, transferred to Keene State College and graduated with a BA in Psychology. Lisa also received an MS in Industrial Hygiene and an MBA from the University of New Haven. Lisa is also a Certified Safety Professional.
Lisa is the corporate Director of health and safety for an Oil and Gas company in Nashville, TN and spent many years with Sikorsky Aircraft, United Technologies Corporation, as the corporate health and safety manager. Lisa currently resides in Brentwood, TN, with her husband Phil Potts and their Vizslas.
Mike graduated from Windsor High School in 1985 as the first four-year letterman and starter for the Golf team and a two-year letterman on the Boy's Basketball team. Honorable mention all conference in golf as a sophomore, Mike was first team all conference in golf for his junior and senior years, while being named Player of the Year in the highly touted CCC-West his senior year, with an individual record of 20-1-3. Mike was a medalist in every match but one his senior year, finished 4th in the State Championships in Greenwich, before finishing 3rd in the State Invitational in 1985. Mike also held the position of Sports Editor for the Windsor High Tomahawk in 1984-85.
Mike then attended Providence College and become a starter on the Division 1 Friar team as a freshman and sophomore. During his two years of D1 collegiate golf Mike competed in two Big East Championships at Georgetown. Mike also won the individual title at the 1986 Rhode Island D1 championship at Point Judith Country Club. Additionally, Mike recorded a hole in one at the West Point Invitational, held at Army's home golf course in 1986. After his freshman and sophomore years, Mike was honorably selected to represent the United States in the Irish-American Universities matches, held in Boston, MA, in 1986, and then in Ireland in 1987. Mike was named MVP of the US team, for his contributions during the '87 matches. Mike was also invited, and then participated in the 1987 Northern Ireland Amateur championships, at the age of 19. Beginning his junior year, Mike moved on from competitive golf, to focus on his writing and studies, where he became the Sports Editor of the Providence College Cowl, sitting court-side, covering every Providence College basketball game during the 1988-89 season.
Since college, Mike has sold pharmaceuticals in Newport, RI, coached HS golf in Denver, CO, consulted on digital delivery for the movie industry in Los Angeles, CA, worked as a mental health counselor in the CT area, and worked as a golf technical representative for Taylor Made in West Palm Beach, FL.
Mike now lives and works in Denver, CO, and credits all of his athletic success to his beloved father, Mario, who passed away in 1994.
Dennis has dedicated countless years to Windsor High School and countless hours to its students. A graduate of Windsor High School in 1972, he returned as a math teacher in 1976 and remained there for his entire 35 year career, retiring in 2011.
During this time at Windsor High, Dennis was a constant at all sporting events, volunteering to take photographs and videos of virtually every game, award assembly, and team banquet. These photographs were freely shared with athletes and school publications. Dennis did not limit his photography skills and services to just sporting events as he volunteered his talents to photograph many music and drama programs as well.
Dennis graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Mathematics from UConn in 1976. He also earned an M.A. in Education. In addition to his teaching duties and photography efforts, Dennis supported student development as an Advisor to the National Honors Society, Student Council, Math and Academic teams, including Windsor’s team on “As Schools Match Wits.” Dennis was a Vanguard PIMMS Fellow in 1983, was a runner-up for State Teacher of the Year in 1986, and was named a Fulbright Scholar in 1988. In addition, the Class of 1980 dedicated their Yearbook to Dennis.
Charles Vola has lived in Windsor his entire life. He graduated from Windsor High School and Plymouth State College in NH, then was hired in 1968 to teach physical education in Windsor. Charlie was the first elementary P. E. teacher in the town, teaching at all seven elementary schools in his first years. After 16 years he transferred to the high school, where he continued teaching and coaching.
In 1969, Charlie was hired by the Superintendent of Schools to start and coach the first ice hockey program in the town, which he did for the next 18 years.
ln 1977, the boys tennis coaching positioned opened. Charlie applied and was hired for his second coaching job, where he remained for 23 years.
In 1982, Charlie became the coach of the girls soccer program, his third sport, which he coached for 18 years.
In 1999, Charlie was appointed Director of Athletics and Head of Physical Education K-12, a position he held for five years, until his retirement from the Windsor School System at the end of the 2003 school year.
His long coaching career was highlighted by his girls' soccer team winning the CIAC Class 'L' State Championship in 1991.
Charlie was nominated five times for outstanding coaching awards. He is most proud of winning awards in two different sports: Girls Soccer in 1997 and Boys Tennis in 1999.
In retirement, Charlie remains involved in community life and makes time for his two favorite pastimes: golf and fishing. He still lives in Windsor with his wife, Lodia; his son, Christopher is a writer, living in New York City.
Nominated to this year's Hall of Fame is the 1991 WHS Girls State Championship Soccer Team. The team finished the regular season with a 17-3 record, and an overall record of 21-3. This was the first, and up-to-the-present time ONLY WHS girls soccer team to achieve this honor.
The road to the Class 'L' championship was not an easy one. The semi-final game against Manchester went into double overtime and concluded with a 5-player shoot-out, in which Windsor won, with its final kicker scoring. The Warriors shut out Glastonbury in the finals to seal the championship. Congratulations to all Lady Warriors on the 1991 Championship Team.
