Answer: You can request that the Duluth Police Department perform a security inspection of your property while you are on vacation. An officer will visit your home up to two times a day, and walk all around your property to verify that everything is OK. These security checks are FREE to you as a Duluth citizen.
To request a vacation security check, contact the Duluth Police Department.
Answer: If you have an alarm system that calls the police, take care to prevent false alarms. As of 2010, the Duluth Police Department will now charge a fee when an officer responds to a false alarm. Duluth residents will get three false alarms (annually) free of charge. On the fourth false alarm, you will be charged $50. Fees increase for additional false alarms, up to a maximum of $1,000 per false alarm.
