WINDOWS
Women Initiating Necessary Discussions on Opportunities for Women in STEM
Our Mission
WINDOWS aims to encourage and support women and girls in pursuing careers in STEM. We work to inspire and empower females interested in this field by connecting them with women role models and exposing them to the different opportunities and career paths available to them. Our goal is to spread the wisdom of women scientists and engineers so that more women can enter STEM careers with confidence and close the gap between female and male representation in this field.
What We Do
WINDOWS hosts monthly talks given by women leaders working in the field of STEM. Our speakers share their stories and discuss topics such as what they do in their job, how they got where they are today, different experiences or challenges they’ve faced, and advice they have for women and girls who want to pursue a similar career. Listeners from all over the world can join our live webinars or watch recordings of previous webinars.

May 2022:
Sonya Imm
My name is Sonya Imm, I was born in Glasgow, Scotland, and currently live just outside of Pittsboro, NC with my husband and 3 dogs. I have been part of the software engineering industry for the last 20 years (admittedly, on and off) and have worked in a variety of different areas including web design and development, mobile development, and now in the FinTech space. I am currently the Sr. Director of Software Engineering for PrecisionLender, which is a Q2 product.
I never went into physics or the astronaut corps to become a role model. But after that first flight, it became clear to me that I was one. And I began to understand the importance of that to people. Young girls need to see role models in whatever careers they may choose, just so they can picture themselves doing those jobs someday. You can't be what you can't see.
