Several of the members of FIRST Tech Challenge team 8569, the RoboKnights, started WINDOWS in the summer of 2020 as a way to empower young women across the globe.

"We decided to launch the WINDOWS Initiative because we knew that many STEM fields are male-dominated, and we wanted to hear from women in these fields and spread their knowledge and experience, in order to help change that. By hosting monthly speakers, we hope to inspire more women and girls to take part in STEM and make sure they know the possibilities available to them in this field."
