Olsen Family Spotlight
Troy grew up in Orem and Mary Ann grew up in Pagosa Springs, Colorado. While students at BYU, we met in a Social Problems (Sociology) class and solved our social problems. We were married in the old Provo Temple 43 ½ years ago.
In the first eight years of our marriage we lived in Provo, Utah, Barrow, Alaska, Pagosa Springs, Colorado, Las Vegas, Nevada, Yuma, Arizona, St. George, Utah and Midvale, Utah. We built our first home in Kaysville in 1990 and lived there for 16 years and then built this home in Kaysville twenty years ago. We feel blessed to live here and appreciate the wonderful neighbors in our community.
We have 2 daughters, Celeste Miller(Jon) and Danielle Olsen, and 3 grandchildren (MC, 15; Mason,11 and Ella,6). The names we are known as by our grandchildren are “Ponka” and “Grandmommy” by the boys and “Pompa” and “Bunny” by Ella.
Troy learned to fly in high school where he gained a love for aviation. He graduated from Emery School of Aviation in Greeley, Colorado where he obtained his initial ratings. He worked as an airline pilot for Skywest/Delta Connection where he flew over 40 years. Mary Ann worked as a professional reader for a press clipping service, manager of an interior design store, as a florist, teacher’s aide and in real estate and sales offices prior to having children. After Celeste was born she became a homemaker.
Troy retired last fall and Troy and Mary Ann are beginning a new phase of life together.
We enjoy nature and love all the beautiful places God created on this earth. We love spending time together, traveling from time to time and being temple workers. We love the magic of ordinary days and just being outside.
