The WiML Mentorship Program is back for its 2023–2024 cycle! Our goal is to provide targeted mentorship to early-career women and non-binary individuals in the machine learning community. This year, we are excited to feature the following cohort of mentees:
For those actively applying to Master’s or doctoral degree programs in machine learning during the 2023–2024 academic year.
Each year, we aim to serve a cohort of at least 25 mentees, but are often limited by the number of available mentors. If you are established in the field of machine learning, your service as a mentor could make the difference for one of our mentees!
Applications for the 2023–2024 Mentorship Program have closed. Please check back in Fall 2024 for next year!
Individualized mentorship: 1-on-1 mentor-mentee matches based on expertise and experience.
Structured 1-on-1's: Discussion materials & support for 1-on-1 mentor-mentee meetings, focusing on the mentee's career transition goal.
Specialized panel sessions: On drafting personal statements, finding academic references, and applying for fellowships.
Community building: Connect with fellow mentees via WiML's online discussion forum!
Office hours: With WiML Board Members and WiML Organizers.
Funding for applications: Reimbursement for expenses related to post-grad degree applications, such as application and standardized examination fees.
And more: Additional benefits to be announced! ♥️

We intend to match mentors to a single mentee; in exceptional cases, we may reach out to mentors to ask their availability to take on an additional mentee.
We ask that mentees be actively applying for post-graduate degree programs or industry jobs in machine learning during 2023–2024, so that we can prioritize support to mentees with time-sensitive needs.
We recommend bi-weekly to monthly 1-on-1 mentor-mentee meetings. Please only sign up if you can commit to meeting regularly for the 5- to 6-month duration of the program (September / October 2023 to February 2024), so that we can make sure that participants get the most out of it. Your commitment is valuable and appreciated! 🪴
