St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada

St. John's is the capital city of Newfoundland and Labrador. St. John's is one of the oldest and most easterly cities in North America. The eastern location means St. John's is only a 5 hour flight to London, or a 3 hour flight to Toronto. St. John's has a temperate climate with warmer winters than many other Canadian cities (average winter temperature –1°C) and pleasant summers (average summer temperature of 20°C). The greater St. John's area has a population of over 200,000 people and contains a lively city centre with a vibrant arts and culture community. The city is also well situated within nature with its rocky cliffs and close proximity to the East Coast trail, Signal Hill National Historic Site, Cape Spear (the eastern most point of North America) and Terra Nova National Park. While exploring nature around St. John's you might be lucky enough to spot icebergs, whales, puffins, seals or moose.
