About Will Swaithes

Will is an inspirational teacher educator, leader and mentor of teaching and learning.

He achieved Advanced Skills Teacher status in 2006 and became a Specialist Leader of Education in 2012. Will has a particular interest in active learning and the role of exercise in optimising cognitive function, supporting progress and achievement along with a wealth of experience in teacher education and securing exceptional examination results at Level 2 and 3. He has worked for a number of awarding organisations (exam boards) since 2006 and delivered highly successful professional development for staff and masterclass workshops for students. Will recently authored books for OCR GCSE PE and Cambridge National Sport Studies and Sport Science.

Will is motivated professionally to raise aspirations, unlock learning potential and improve wellbeing among young people, enabling achievement at school and throughout life. With 20 years of experience in the education sector, Will continues to design and test innovative teaching practices and curriculum designs to improve outcomes for young people. He create resources working with other subject experts, schools and National Governing Bodies and regularly delivers both workshop and keynote presentations at regional and national conferences.

Will was Head of PE and Achievement for the Youth Sport Trust from 2015-2018 and continues to do a lot of tutoring and authoring for them whilst also working closely with schools in two teaching school alliances
