Our team is committed to fostering a lab environment where students can develop both technical and soft skills to excel in the workforce. We welcome and encourage all students to join our lab. We strive to create a positive learning environment through the following actions:
1. Education. Learning about implicit biases and privileges that historically create barriers for people exploring fields in STEM.
2. Training. Frequent discussions centered around working with all groups of people and resources available on and off campus, etc.
3. Recruitment. Lab openings will be widely advertised to ensure all students at all stages of their career have access to available positions.
4. Reflection. Creating a safe space to discuss strategies to improve lab culture and how to implement our ideas effectively.
Helpful resources for learning about the lab:
1. Check out the "Research" tab on our site. There you can find a general overview of the research interests of our lab. You can also find a video that summarizes our group's interests.
2. Reading papers relevant to our work. Need more background information than what is on the "Reseach" tab? Check out this review paper. Pages 1-7 are a good starting point for learning about our area of work.
3. Contact Professor Williams. You can learn about current and future projects being done in the lab and available opportunities. You can set up a time to meet here.
4. Current team members. Chatting with students in the lab will provide insight on research experiences from the student perspective. This includes skills gained in the lab, typical work schedule, and mentoring style.
5. Attend group meetings. Our group meets every week to discuss a range of topics including literature, data, and technical/soft skills. All students are welcome to join! Please contact Professor Williams for times and location.
We are currently not accepting new applications. For future opportunities, check back here in spring 2026.
