William Sherlund of Gutter Fighting Secrets has a broad array of skills under his belt. He graduated from the SIRAS bodyguard academy training in Denmark. He is also an EMT, a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and an instructor in World War II combative and other close quarters combat techniques. William also teaches the Israeli martial art, Krav Maga.
For today's blog, William Sherlund introduces the highly brutal fighting system of Krav Maga to people who wish to study it in the future.
Krav Maga was invented in the late 1930s by Imi Lichtenfeld. Born in Hungary, but of Israeli descent, Lichtenfeld witnessed World War II upfront. He decided to develop a fighting system that would help people who were victims of anti-Semitic movements in Bratislava defend themselves with lethal precision. Lichtenfeld met with boxers and wrestlers and developed what the world would come to know as Krav Maga.
Through Krav Maga, Jews and other persecuted races in Bratislava were able to fight back against racist groups in the region.
Modern-day Krav Maga is very much a part of Jewish society. It has become a symbol of how the Jews and other races suffered during World War II and rose and fought for themselves.
Krav Maga is highly efficient. William Sherlund explains that practitioners are taught to end fights quickly by attacking the most sensitive parts of an opponent's body. It also teaches highly efficient techniques that combine both attack and defense. Krav Maga training also almost always simulates real-world scenarios.
