Q: What is everyone getting out of this radio show?
A: The producer is doing this as a hobby and as an excuse to buy and listen to underground and emerging artists. KMWV gets content for their radio station and fulfills its pledge to provide meia literacy to its community, the bands get to be featured and I try to support them back in appreciation
Q: What is the vision for the 60 Minutes of Mayhem?
A: Aspirationally, we would grow a fanbase and wide listenership and become an influential one stop shop for record label scouts, promoters, and other entertainment producers who are looking for musicians. Those musicians would achieve wealth and fame and fly me out to shows and take me partying. Initially we just want to self-syndicate the show through widen distirbution while imporving the overall quality.
Q: Hey! Dammit, you don't have permission to play our music!
A: Not really a question, but communicate through the contact the episode, name of song, etc, and it will be removed ASAP. Also, sorry!
Q: What is the contact information for the Willamette Metal Society?
A: Check out out Discord, our YouTube, Email. Songs can be submitted to the 60 Minutes of Mayhem radio show via this form. We have a Bandccamp and an Insta now, too.
Q: Where is this show available at to listen to?
A: KMWV and YouTube, and Ch. 22
Q: What is the antennae footprint for the show?
A: We have a reach down through Eugene and up to the Tualatin (lower Portland) area which includes 850,000 households. Check out this map to see the antennae range
Q: Why would a band want their music on this show?
A: Exposure. The people starting this project is doing it purely as a labor of love. They hate that so much talent goes unrewarded in this world and hope to give back by sharing creative works and then helping plug the artists' links and merch.
Q: Will the Willamette Metal Society make any money on this show?
A: Super doubtful. The only possible revenue resource at this time would be through AdSense revenue via YouTube. Currently we are not anywhere near monetized and frankly do not give a damn about it.
Q: Wait, who the hell is the Willamette Metal Society and why should I care?
A: The Willamette Metal Society is a semi-secret society of headbangers and metal music enthusiasts headquartered in the heart of darkness: Salem Oregon.
Q: What is SFO, and why is it important?
A: Salem Fuckin' Oregon is in the heart of the Willamette Valley, a land that spends most of the year shrouded in gloom. We are the Pacific Northwest and the PNW is set to eclipse Northern Europe as the metal capital of the world!
Q: Does the show, the society, or KMWV retain any rights to the music played?
A: No. We have no desire to retain any rights to music, artwork, etc. A submission, if selected, will be mixed to a one hour program, be broadcast on KMWV and then be posted to YouTube as an episode. KMWV is a non-profit local production.
Q: How can 60 Minutes of Mayhem help our band?
A: Disclaimer: it may not. Here are the benefits: Additional mouthpiece to amp up and promote your music (We are starting this project after all because we love heavy music and the stuff we see shared at https://www.reddit.com/r/metalmusicians. There is so much good shit shared there! Anyhow, the potential benefits: 1) More exposure 2) Reshares of branding, links to merchandise POSs, 3) Promotion of news 4) Re-linking to band contact and POCs 5) Providing a press space for entities to scout talent for music, film and media projects. Plus, I like blowing money on merch and Bandcamp. Also, it's free.
Q: Can I join the Willamette Metal Society?
A: Sure. The brightest vision would be musicians from around the world coming to Salem Oregon to reside or do creative sabbaticals. Our forests of tall trees, wacky weeds, and magical mushrooms may be what bands are looking for to help foster their next Magnus Opus. A dream would be that The Metal Society opens its couches and doors to network and help metal musicians create. If you don't mind helping Salem Oregon transform into a thrash-metal goddamn Mecca, then come on down. Winter is always descending here in our valley of darkness and rain. Other than ascribing to the metal way of life, no dues are required at this time. Print membership card here.
Q: If the Willamette Metal Society became the best version of itself, what would that look like?
TWMS plans to establish the world’s first Institute for Metal Music on a 25-acre campus at the Salem, Oregon fairgrounds. The campus would feature a 10-story parking garage designed to serve as both a noise buffer and a visual barrier for the neighborhood to the south. Additionally, 17th Street would be rerouted through an underground tunnel with exits for the parking structure and other campus facilities.
The Armory and Pavilion would be remodeled into state-of-the-art venues, complete with a lottery casino. Existing structures, such as the bull ring and chicken house, would remain in use. Furthermore, the state and county fairs, along with other rental activities, would continue uninterrupted. /s
Q: Can we submit multiple songs?
Hell yea! Perhaps we can play through an entire ep one episode!
