Floating just offshore, this illuminated silhouette echoes the shape of the Old Jindabyne Hotel — a ghostly tribute to the town that now sleeps beneath Lake Jindabyne.
In the early 1960s, the original town was submerged as part of the Snowy Hydro Scheme. Brad Spalding’s translucent, house-shaped sculpture marks what was lost — not with nostalgia, but with reverence.
At night, it glows from within, casting soft reflections across the water. You might imagine the murmur of voices, the clink of glasses, a piano in the corner. It’s a quiet toast to memory — a spectral gathering place for stories that still linger, just below the surface.
