Our most recent Brush Clearing concluded on April 4, 2022 at Churchwood Drive in Oak Park
Our club is cultivating a strong and sustainable local ecosystem, and restoring areas that have burned in previous fires, by planting acorns.
Oak trees are important members of the local ecosystem, and help slow the spread of wildfires because they burn slowly. Planting them in areas that have burned down provides habitat and food for wildlife, and in the long run, helps sequester heat-trapping carbon dioxide and prevent wildfires from occurring in the first place. Therefore, planting oak trees helps protect our communities from devastating wildfires, and promotes the health of our planet.
How YOU can help!
You can help with our reforestation projects by collecting acorns!
By collecting acorns from the ground, wrapping them in a wet paper towel, placing them in a ziploc bag, and storing them in your refrigerator until our next acorn planting date, you can be a tremendous help in restoring our local ecosystem and preventing wildfires!
When collecting acorns, please label the bag with:
The town they were collected in.
The type of oak tree they came from/ were found close to (coat live oak or valley oak)
