Named after the myth of King Midas, whose touch turned anything to gold.
Thoughtfully bred by Donna Jedryczka of Michigan, I first saw a picture of Midas in the fall of the 2022. He immediately caught my eye and the picture had him moving very laterally. A quick evaluation of his pedigree confirmed that it was possible that he was gaited. I reached out, but really had no place for a stallion at the time.
Fast-forward to the summer of 2023, and it was made known that Donna was struggling with health issues. I visited her and her horses and was able to see Midas in person for the first time. His dam had passed away when he was still only a weanling. It was clear Donna and him had a bond and I could see his potential. I couldn't pass up the opportunity.
I brought him home and while he took a week or two to come out of his shell, he then began to demonstrate to me what a determined horse he was. It is hard to not anthropomorphize him and how he shines when given attention.
Midas has been easy to train, and I have started him under saddle myself. We are building his foundation intentionally, as I fully expect him to be one of my endurance mounts. I am excited to see where the future takes us and will continue to update on his accomplishments.
