Guess Which Hand Game

Step 1: Play the "Guess which hand?" game, where something is hidden in one hand and the other is empty. Hold out both hands as enclosed fists. Put one UP and the other DOWN so it will be easier for the kids instead of left and right. Then ask your student to guess which hand the object is hidden in by tapping on it. Open up the hand that was indicated to reveal if your child was right or not. Make this game even more fun by hiding sweets like candy or cookies.

Step 2: Once your student has understood the game and the concept, allow them to hide the object while you guess which hand it is in.

Teacher: Okay, I’m hiding a coin. (Hides coin) Which hand has the coin, A or B?

Student: A!

Teacher: (Opens right hand) Yes, you’re right! The coin was in A. Great job!

Teacher: Let's play again. Now, I’m hiding a toy. (Hides toy) Which hand, A or B?

Student: B!

Teacher: (Opens left hand) Yes, you’re right! The toy was in B. Well done!

Teacher: Last round. I’m hiding a pencil. (Hides pencil) Which hand, A or B?

Student: A!

Teacher: (Opens right hand) Yes, it was in A! Great guessing, everyone!

Student: Yay!

Teacher: You all did fantastic! We’ll play again soon!
