VSET-WiET

Best Paper Award

We are very pleased to announce that the Virtual Seminars in Economic Theory (VSET) is very kindly sponsoring a Best Paper Award, to be chosen from papers in the field of microeconomic theory, presented by a woman participant at the WiET conference. The awardee will be invited to present the same paper at a VSET seminar on December 1, 2022. The aim of the award is to contribute to the dissemination of the best work by young women working in microeconomic theory through VSET.

Since WiET is an entirely student run conference, the selection committee for the Best Paper Award consists entirely of UChicago and Booth PhD students specializing in microeconomic theory.

Update: We are very happy to announce that our student jury team has selected Cuimin Ba's paper "Robust Misspecified Models and Paradigm Shifts" as the winner of the VSET-WiET best paper award. Congratulations to Cuimin! She is scheduled to present the paper online on Dec 1, 4 pm London time as part of the VSET online seminar series. More details on the VSET series and its schedule can be found here.

That is Cuimin presenting her paper at our conference!

In addition, we would also like to give an Honorable mention to Wanying Huang for her excellent paper Learning in Repeated Interactions on Networks, with Philipp Strack and Omer Tamuz.

The criteria on which our student jury panel evaluated the papers were: Significance of the question, plausibility of the model, novelty including novelty of proof techniques, contribution to the relevant literature, and presentation quality. There were 75+ submissions to the conference, out of which 16 papers were presented, from which only 10 were eligible for the award. Given the excellent quality of the papers presented, choosing just one winner was an extremely difficult task for our jury. We would like to thank each and every participant for their excellent presentation.
