Wieland Racing started out as a way for coach Tyson to connect with athletes and share his wealth of knowledge he has gained over the years racing. Since then it has developed into much more thanks to those who have been a part in some shape or form. Now as it continues to grow the team will aim to embody three driving principles, that will help those involved achieve their goals. The team is not limited by these three, but rather all further paths and identities derive their origin from them. We firmly believe that when in doubt, falling back on these three will provide the appropriate response in the moment with your past, present, and future in mind.
Sport gives us an opportunity to not only better ourselves, but also impact those around us. At Wieland Racing we want to fully utilize this opportunity any time we get the chance. This means paying your dues, as everyone has been there before and nobody is above helping those starting with questions. Take those 5 seconds to answer that silly question because at one point you were asking the same thing. If you racing, thank a volunteer/supporter/race director or anyone you can think of. Saying thank you is free, and the event would not be possible without the support of the community. Respecting your competitors as you would want to be respected. You be fierce in competition, but aim to be an even more fierce in how you lift up those who push you. Racing goes far beyond just the event, so in your training don't do anything to make your community look down on the team. We fully support you being the weirdo that runs around in short shorts, but encourage you to be the one who also waves and says hello to those you encounter. You never know whos day you will make. Have a chance to volunteer yourself? Even better! Not everything has to be about your racing, and any chance you can easily slide helping someone else achieve their goals we encourage you to do so! Overall, take any moment you get to help raise up your community and you will be greatly rewarded for your efforts.
It's easy to look at sport as a means of getting healthy, meeting up with like minded people, beating your fellow racers or a multitude of other reasons. However, in our endeavors to get fit or faster sometimes we get lost in the training or consumed by a race. One of the driving principles of Wieland Racing is well-being. We strive to as coaches and athletes look past the norm of pushing yourself day in and out and see how it effects your overall health. Our coaching staff offers personalized coaching, not because it is more appealing to the athletes, but rather every individual has a different life to work around. We want to push the athletes, but also allow them to let us know when training just really can't be a priority at times. This open relationship is key along with providing honest answer to any questions that come up.
The final principle is a personal guide that coach Tyson Wieland has followed for many years, and we believe can help bring out the best choices amongst our athletes. We as Wieland Racing athletes will aim to leave the best possible lasting legacy that we can. The truth of the matter is that no matter what we do, good or bad, we leave a legacy. So we ask our athletes and coaches to take a step back when a tough choice is presented to them, and ask themselves. "What legacy do I want to leave?" We hope when you ask this question, you find the answer that best fits your situation and helps you leave the lasting legacy you want to with your friends, family, and those who surround you.
