Practicing Strategies and Tips to Become a Proficient Musician

Strategy #1

Music can be broken down into two groups: Rhythm and Pitch.

• Rhythm involves numbers, long and short sounds.

• Pitch involves the letters or high and low sounds in music.

Now use these terms to help you practice at home.

• Practice the rhythm first. by clapping the rhythms out loud. Learning the rhythm can take a few days when the music is hard.

• Once you have the rhythm down, you can begin adding the pitches. Say the letter names out loud.

• Once you can identify the letters, begin playing the notes on your instrument.
