Out of all contestants who have played the game, relatively few have been able to win the top prize on any international version of the show. The first was John Carpenter, who won the top prize on the American version on 19 November 1999.[26] Carpenter famously did not use a lifeline until the final question, using his "Phone a Friend" to call his father, not for help, but to tell him he was about to become a millionaire.[27]

We reconstructed the original look and feel of "Who wants to be a millionaire" to make it as realistic as possibly possible. The PowerPoint template is designed to look like the screens in the show and even animates neatly. The cherry on top are the sound effects, which are also original and will get you in that perfectly focused quiz mood. Here you can see the result when you start the presentation (be sure to turn up the volume!):

If you don't feel like making up your own questions, that's not a problem! In a recent blog post we listed 50 great quiz ideas that you can simply add to our Who wants to be a Millionaire template to make the game even more fun: Creative Quiz Questions Ideas

Multiplayer mode has even less to do with the original rules. Here every player can buzz in after the game states the question. The fastest player has to answer within one second or another player can steal it from him. He has also the possibility to force another player to answer the question - but of course he gets punished when the other player gets it right (who also gets an extra reward). Every player gets three lives. The goal is to answer 15 questions correctly. There are also four additional multiplayer variations: quick fire, play-or-pass (a player can choose to answer a question himself or pass it away), millionaire remix (collecting lives and guarantee points) and multimillionaire (team-based).

Unlike the television version, should players lose the game, they can always try again from the beginning. With hundreds of questions available, the game provides hours of nail-biting fun. The TV-like timing, tense music and perfect dose of unique banter from Regis build non-stop excitement for the chance to become a virtual millionaire.

Erica Payne, founder of Patriotic Millionaires, offers a crash course on economic inequality to residents of Whiteville, N.C. The group wants working-class voters to lobby Congress on raising the minimum wage and taxing the rich. Jennifer Ludden/NPR  hide caption 2351a5e196
