Letter from Pastor
March 23, 2026
Grand Risings White Star Family!
Spring is springing, and we are all entering a time of rebirth and renewal! This is a lovely time to be getting back together and welcoming in the 2026 season at the White Star Church!
My name is Dinah and, for those of you who are unfamiliar with me, I acted as interim pastor last year, following the passing of our beloved Reverend Mary.
It is with gratitude and deep respect that I share with you the fact that I have accepted the role of Pastor at the White Star Church. It is a true honor to be carrying on the legacy of my lifelong friend, Reverend Mary… As well as the legacies of all of the esteemed Pastors and Trailblazers, who came before her.
The White Star Church has remained a Spiritualist beacon of light and love for over 140 years. My intention is to continue working with all of you to support the Spiritualist tenets on which the White Star Church was founded.
To me, the most important part of any spiritual gathering, is the emphasis on every individual’s ability to connect directly with Spirit. We believe that every single one of us can sharpen our own intuitive and psychic gifts and build our own personal connection with the Divine, with Mother Earth, and with our Companions in Spirit. Every service will continue to have meditation/journeys to support everyone’s own personal spiritual development.
We have some exciting things happening this year. One of our new friends is working with us to get us added to the National Register of Historic Places. This is a fairly long and arduous process and one that will hopefully help us to qualify for some much needed grants to support the upkeep of the property.
Last Fall pictures were submitted to the committee that determines the merit of an application. The committee determined that it would be appropriate to move our application forward. Next, a detailed historical narrative/report needs to be written and submitted. It needs to be drafted by someone with significant experience in this arena. The cost for this alone will be somewhere around $9000.
Since we operate on a very tight budget and do not possess significant cash reserves, we will need to be doing separate fundraising for this project. Our hope is that it will help maintain the physical integrity of the church for years to come.
If you are someone who loves history and would like to be supportive of this project, please let us know. We welcome all ideas and assistance in raising money for this endeavor … Please see me if you’re interested in helping.
As Reverend Mary said repeatedly over the years… The White Star Church is a gem that we are all so lucky to be a part of. However… The only way for it to continue into the future is for all of us to contribute to the financial upkeep of the place that we have all grown to love.
Last year, our attendance increased. But the average individual donations each Sunday sadly decreased. Also… Our paying membership has decreased as well.
If you value our little beacon of light, please consider becoming a member and also donating toward the place that you love. Remember that your donations are always tax deductible and very much appreciated!
You will find a membership form and schedule in this 2026 packet.
Our first service will be Sunday, April 26 beginning at 10:30 AM. We will then have Services on the second and fourth Sundays of every month throughout the summer and fall. Our last service will be Sunday, November 8, 2026.
The subject of each service will be announced on our Facebook page during the week before each service.
PLEASE REMEMBER TO CHECK THE FACEBOOK PAGE TO BE INFORMED OF ANY SERVICE CANCELLATIONS DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER OR OTHER UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES.
Peace and Blessings,
Dinah
