Born in 1971 in Brooklyn, New York, and died prematurely in 1996, Tupac Shakur (known as 2Pac) was a rapper, whose work ranges from gangsta rap to socially committed songs. Controversy around his figure raised due to legal problems and rape charges. His most famous songs include Hit Em Up, All Eyez on Me, California Love, and Dear Mama.

Born in 1949 in Long Branch, New Jersey, Bruce Springsteen is a songwriter and a singer. Nicknamed "The Boss" for his central role in the rock 'n' roll music scene (especially in the 1970s and 1980s), his songs deal with the working class' problems and, more broadly, with turmoils around the American identity.
