YOUR SAFETY IS OUR PRIORITY
Driving a scooter in Tulum requires skill due to sand, gravel, traffic, and bad road conditions. For your own safety and to ensure your vacation stays perfect, previous riding experience is mandatory. We take pride in our zero-accident goal, and by being honest about your experience, you help us keep everyone safe. If you are a beginner, we’ll be happy to recommend alternative transportation!
Most pulled-over cases are caused by going in the wrong direction on one-way roads.
Slow down with rain or bumpy roads.
Very slow and only use the back brake over gravel or sand roads.
Stay on the right side of the road.
Let the crazy drivers pass you.
In case of failure, contact us for assistance, from 9 to 20 hrs.
Our scooters have a bluetooth tracking device installed. It perhaps sends a notification to your iPhone, letting you know you are carrying a tracking device. Don't worry, it is us.
Parking in permitted places. A white line means allow to park. The yellow line means "No parking". 20 meters from intersections is not allowed to park, otherwise, the vehicle can be towed and you will be responsible for fines and fees. The fine is about $2,000 MXN, if paid the same day of towed or $4,000 MXN if paid the day after.
Use indoor parking overnight if possible.
Visibility: Scooters are less visible than cars. Objects on the roadway may obstruct visibility. Make eye contact.
Lack of protection: Unlike enclosed vehicles, scooter riders have no barrier protecting them from the roadway, and lack safety devices such as airbags and seat belts. However, the use of helmets is mandatory. Use it while riding.
Roadways defects: Such as uneven pavement, potholes, gravel, sand, and debris could cause a scooter to lose control. Some accidents occur when riders try to swerve around roadway defects or debris at hi-speed. Slow down and use only the back brake over gravel or sand. Stay focusd.
Unknown street preference: There is a preference at every intersection that indicates who has to stop and who has to keep going without stopping at all. Look for the stop signs or stop if you don't know what to do.
Lack of experience: This is the leading cause of accidents. Be wise and learn first.
Reckless behavior: Operating the vehicle in a risky manner, without a helmet, riding at high speeds or on sidewalks, with more than two passengers, or performing dangerous stunts. Act responsibly.
Driving under the influence: Raiding a scooter while under the influence of alcohol or any other drugs is illegal and insurance is not applicable under these circumstances. Drive sober.
