I've been using WhatsApp on my phone and PC successfully for years. Today WhatsApp web lost the connection to my phone. What is happening is that the display for the camera inside WhatsApp is inverted (or tilted sideways). When I move the phone up and down, the image goes left and right, and vice-versa. It is like that both for taking pictures to send someone, and for scanning the QR code.

So, since the QR code depends on orientation of the image, the app cannot read the inverted image. I tried inverting the PC screen itself to correct the issue, but it seems that there's no screen orientation that gives the proper reading of the code. Plus it's really annoying trying to focus the code, as the image doesn't behave as expected.

I had the very same issue with my Galaxy Y Duos. Rotating the phone or laptop screen through screen preferences didn't help me. Finally the solution was to use 'Flip This' chrome extension and rotate the QR code by 90 degrees. The WhatsApp logo at the center of the QR code would not change its orientation on the camera (as it is a different image) but the QR code would be rotated and your phone would be able to scan it.

I had to look at it very carefully, and I think I ended holding my phone sideways! It was a bit confusing, and took me quite a few goes, it eventually worked. I was connected to WhatsApp Web! (And I haven't had to scan it again. I bookmarked the webpage, and whenever I go there I can Whatsapp on my pc)

Idk if this has happened to anybody else, but right now I'm not able to scan the whatsapp qr code to login into the desktop app. I've tried with two different phones and it doesn't work at all. However, i can login into whatsapp web without any problems. It seems that the qr codes are different, the one from the desktop app lacks the whatsapp logo in the center, idk if that might be causing the problem. Is the camera module compatible with Whatsapp video calls and can be used to scan Whatsapp QR code as well?

As for now there is No attached camera so when i give Whatsapp permission to access the camera i get the following error

"Can't start camera, please restart your phone."

Although in that case it won't tell you what the QR code is, this method is used for authentication purpose to log in to Whatsapp web hence i think it won't matter if it stays black or not as long as the camera is able to read the QR code.

We did some testing and found out that the some applications expect the data in a different pixel format. In the latest version bar scanner receives multiple frames, but eventually dies because of the wrong format.

I have tried to remove policy being applied at user level but still no success. users/ devices connected to this same web policy are able to use web.whatsapp without any issue but on this particular user after allowing web.whatsapp. Whatsapp page opens and after scanning QR code doesn't show the chats screen and get stuck on loading chats.
