Thank you to Dan's Place and to everyone who joined us for our Trivia Night and Historic Trading Card Kickoff Event. Your support and enthusiasm helped make it a wonderful evening celebrating the rich history of West Greenwich and the stories that continue to shape our community.

April 2026

Thank you to everyone who attended the "George E Matteson - The Man and His Maps" Our first in a the Speaker Series in partnership with the Louttit Library honoring the Semiquincentennial.

May 2026

Volunteers and the West Greenwich Preservation and Heritage Commission completed the important tradition of flagging all known veterans’ graves throughout West Greenwich for Memorial Day — from the historic burial grounds along our roadsides to the remote cemeteries deep within the Wickaboxet Management Area, Arcadia Management Area, Alton Jones Campus, and the Big River Management Area.

Our Revolutionary War Veterans also received the Betsey Ross Flag for America's Semiquincentennial.

This effort helps ensure that the service and sacrifice of our veterans are remembered and honored ahead of Memorial Day.

Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate West Greenwich’s Declaration of Independence Day!

It was a wonderful day as our community gathered to welcome home West Greenwich’s own copy of the Declaration of Independence, dedicate the town’s new Revolutionary War Monument, and celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the Louttit Library.

July 2, 2026

🇺🇸 This evening, our Town Clerk officially received the Declaration of Independence and presented it to the West Greenwich Town Crier for a public reading.

As the Declaration was read aloud, we were reminded why the thirteen colonies chose to separate from Great Britain. The crowd truly brought history to life with enthusiastic shouts of “Huzzah!” and spirited “Boo!” at all the right moments, making for an engaging and memorable evening.

Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate on such a warm July evening. A special thank you to the Rhode Island Rednecks for providing wonderful music and helping make the event even more enjoyable.

Finally, a heartfelt thank you to everyone who dedicated their time, talent, and hard work to make this event possible. Your efforts helped create a meaningful and memorable celebration of our nation’s history.
