Just extract all contents of the Zip file into the root game directory (For most people that's gonna be C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\We Were Here)
Make sure that all files are actually copied into the game directory and not in a new WeWereInVR folder in the game directory.
This step obviously requires you to have the game already installed on your pc.
OPen the SteamVR settings
Show advanced settings
go to "Dashboard"
set "Present Non-VR Applications on Theater Screen Upon Launch" to "off"
If your headset's refresh rate is set to 90hz in the Oculus/Quest Link client, you're pretty much done at this point. You can now just start We Were Here from Steam.
If you set your refresh rate to anything other than 90hz or your height isn't correct/you want to play seated, please follow the steps below:
Open the Companion app (located in (We Were Here root directory)\BepInEx\Plugins\Companion.exe
While this app will start SteamVR/The Quest Link Client, please continue the setup on your monitor as it's not an actual VR application
You should now be greeted with the very ugly companion app user interface.
Please enter the correct refresh rate into the first input field, select your controller type in the dropdown menu and finally enter a height offset if your height wasn't correct the first time you launched the mod.
Now click the ugly bright green button saying "Finish". This will close the companion app and complete your setup.
Open the companion app
Set the games timestep to your headset's refresh rate
Select your controller type from the dropdown menu
Click on "Finish"
You can use the experimental binding menu. Please beware that the resulting bindings often aren't perfect. So if your controller type is already in the original dropdown menu, please use the default bindings instead.
If your controller isn't supported, please open the bindings menu.
For this please select "Custom" in the Dropdown menu. The previously greyed out button saying "Open Bindings Wizard" should now be clickable. Click it.
The rest of the custom binding setup is done in VR and should be pretty straight forward. Just click the buttons using any button on your controller(yes, ANY. This includes capacitive touch sensors.) and then bind the correct button to the selected action by pressing it.
Please also contact me on discord because I'd love to make a better working, natively available binding for your controller type.
After launching We Were Here from Steam, it should automatically open in VR. If it doesn't, please make sure you've followed all the steps above perfectly
