The Marching Falcons is the name of the marching band that performs the halftime show at home football games, cheers on the football team by playing at football games, local parades, and marching band competitions around the Piedmont region of North Carolina. Students can join the woodwinds, brass, percussion or colorguard sections. Students work with specialized educators throughout the season to maximize productivity and create a refined performance.
The Marching Falcons provides students of West Rowan High School an opportunity to become apart of something that is larger than just an individual while also teaching them personal responsibility, discipline, how to work as a part of a team, and delayed satisfaction to a long term goal. The Marching Falcons are guided by the principles of Service, Respect, Pride, Excellence, and Tradition and strive to uphold these ideals both in and out of their uniforms.
Jazz band is an auditioned group that meets afterschool during the spring semester to prepare for concerts and community performances around Rowan County. This ensemble is made up of a rhythm section, saxophones, trumpets, and trombones.
Anyone is welcome to audition for this group as it is expected for members of this group to take more initiative to practice at home as this group meets only once a week to rehearse. Rehearsal time is spent mastering style and studying improvisational jazz.
