Greystone pickleball offers OPEN PLAY and COMPETITIVE PLAY times:

* OPEN PLAY  Pickleballers of all levels are welcome to play during "open play".   That's how we have more fun and build our community.   Greystone offers 5 sessions of Open Play times each week.

** COMPETITIVE PLAY   is organized play for Intermediate and advanced players with similar skills to    comfortably play with each other.

Greystone COMPETITIVE PLAY is a time for the more competitive players to challenge themselves.  It is open play for the stronger more competitive players.  It is not a tournament or "win at all costs" environment.

Some things to consider:

Do I win most of my games at open play without trying to play with the strongest player on the court as my partner?

Do I get upset when people hit the ball too hard at me or spin too much?  Competitive players do not need to play down or change their game for their opponent at competitive play.

Do I understand pickleball shots such as drops, dinks and drives and when to use them?

Do I understand pickleball doubles play court positioning and actively tether with my partner and play at the kitchen line?

When playing against stronger players, do the majority of points end with me or with me popping the ball up?  Do I need to hit to the weaker player each time to score points?

If you are not sure, feel free to discuss with a keyholder.  But, don’t be upset with their response if you ask their opinion!  At the end of the day, you need to decide what is right for you.

The goal is to challenge yourself without lowering the level of play for the others on the court.

The important thing is to have fun!

SUMMER LOCATION:   "Greystone Field", off Russell's Way, Westford.   The driveway entrance into Greystone Field is unmarked, but this driveway entrance is exactly .5 miles from the intersection of Rt. 40 and Russell's Way.  Driving north on Russell's Way, the driveway entrance is next to a small white street sign that says, "End Low Salt" and a small sign that says "Trails".  You have gone too far north if you pass the residence of #15 Russell's Way.
