American Sign Language (ASL) is a visual and kinesthetic language used in the United States and Canada.  ASL is the third most commonly used language, after English and Spanish, and is used by more than 500,000 people as their native language in the United States. Over 730,000 Virginia residents report deafness or hearing difficulty.
