Youth Advisory Panel

The Youth Advisory Panel (YAP) is a sub-committee of the Swim England West Midland Region. The YAP seeks to provide a voice for the younger generation, utilising their thoughts and ideas to enhance the Region.

The YAP also provides opportunity to its members to gain valuable skills and experiences that can enhance their future prospects, as well as develop them as individuals.

The YAP meet monthly, and discuss various topics as well as engage in their own projects. The Panel was set up at the start of 2023, and soon will be opening applications for the 2023/24 term.

How to get involved:

Applications for the Panel open each year, over summer. We will aim to open applications for 2024/25 in July of 2024.

We may open applications for roles throughout the year, if we feel they need filling. Keep an eye on our social media, and our weekly newsletter, for any information.

What have the panel been working on this year?

The Youth Advisory Panel was formed in January of 2023, and have been starting discussions on Mental Health, and Retention in sport. The YAP felt that there needs to be more done to support young people as they enter competitive sport and adolescence, and have been working on creating resources that can be accessible to all. The YAP also want to explore the reasons for drop-out of aquatic sports, and how w can address this and encourage people to remain active for life.
