Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of one of our West Bend Dance Teams. Please read the following information carefully regarding roles and responsibilities.
What is West Bend Dance?
West Bend Dance is a competitive dance program designed to teach, train, and enhance dancer’s skills and abilities. There are five competition teams through the W.B. Dance program. PreK-elementary participants are divided into four groups. There will be no cuts for these younger dancers, so if interested, you’re strongly encouraged to register early as we will be limiting the size of these teams.
Team Information:
There will NOT be try-outs for our West Bend *Tiny/*Mini/Junior Prep Teams; however, there is a set of required skills for those planning to sign up for the Tiny, Mini, Junior Prep, and Junior Dancers. Summer practices will begin in June and end in August, and will be held every Tuesday and Friday morning; Tiny Team (Fridays Only), and our goal is to teach all competitive pom routines during these summer rehearsals. If time permits, hip-hop, jazz, or kick routines will also be taught during summer. Once the school year begins, fall practices will be one evening per week; most likely Tuesdays, along with occasional Saturday mornings to prepare for competitions…as needed. These teams will be invited to join the 5th-8th W.B. Competition Dance Team in the 4th of July Parade, *WB Homecoming Parade, Christmas Parade, and Memorial Day Parade. *Pom routines will also be performed at the high school’s Tailgate Party after the Homecoming Parade. In addition, youth teams will be signed up to compete at three-five dance competitions. If you anticipate having conflicts, please do not sign up.
Dancers must be committed to their teams and come prepared:
· Show appreciation for all coaches as they VOLUNTEER all their time; attend all practices; have a good attitude
· Be ready to work, learn, and have fun
· Wear comfortable clothing…t-shirts or leotard, shorts, leggings, dance pants or capris
· Wear dance shoes or tennis shoes
· Hair needs to be tied back
· No jewelry
For the pom routine, all dancers will need laceless jazz shoes (tan), tights (tan), costume/dress, and poms. In addition, a team backpack, red WB Dance t-shirt, and team warm-up jacket will need to be purchased for those looking to secure a spot on one of the competition teams. Please complete the Google Registration Form A.S.A.P. There is a $200 down payment for 1st-year members [$150 for returning members] payable to West Bend Dance on/before the first summer practice. This down payment will be applied toward the dancer’s order. The second/final payment will be due on/before the end of July.
Please note that there will be additional fees for hip-hop and/or jazz costume as well as competition fees for the three/four/five competitions. These costs will be determined at a later date. If you have questions, please call or text Kathy Nienow [262-483-9488] or email westbenddanceteam@gmail.com.
Team communication will be done through the calendar at our website (www.westbenddance.com). We will post all practices and competitions as well as other information. It is your responsibility to check the website regularly.
