On November 15, 20224, Madison, and I finally met the famous Heike we have been learning so much about! Heike the International Student Teaching Coordinator in Germany! We also met with the Anne-Frank Gymnasium principal and another student teacher there. abroad! Meeting them face-to-face calmed my nerves and made me more excited to be studying abroad in Germany.
We were asked to send Heika some of our interests and what we are looking forward to doing in Germany. With that information, Heika chose which families she thought would best suit us. I received an email the next week with my host family placement. When I got to my host family placement, I emailed them to introduce myself and was greeted with so much love and excitement.
Packing for Germany
Gym clothes are for the gym, there aren't any Germans in the city that wear leggings, but you will need some for gym class.
Spring is a changeable season everywhere, but especially here. The days change from 80 degrees to 57 degrees windy and rainy. Therefore it is recommended to pack a lot of clothing that can be layered and a raincoat.
You will be walking or biking everywhere, so bring sensible shoes like sneakers or anything else that is comfortable.
Bring a universal plug adapter to be able to charge your devices, the outlets in Germany are shaped differently than ours.
As you can tell in the picture our luggage got put on a different airplane, so we had to go shopping as soon as we got there to get clothing for our first day of school. When packing your carry I would recommend putting on an outfit and anything you need for one night.
