Why do YOU PTA?
PTA provides so many opportunities for our students - like donating supplies, helping with field trips, and offering leadership opportunities. My personal favorite thing PTA offers is the Reflections contest, a chance for each student to share their individual voice and talents to make a difference in our community, our state, and our nation. This is #MySchoolMyTribe so being a part of PTA just feels like a natural choice. That’s why I PTA!

I joined PTA to be involved. I wanted to be able to help with activities that bring staff, students, and parents together. That’s why I PTA!

I joined the PTA to enrich my students’ experiences in school. The PTA plans fun nights for the kids and helps at events throughout the year that benefit our school and I wanted to contribute to that. That’s why I PTA!

I started with WMS PTA three years ago when we were just coming back from COVID. A lot had changed, and I wanted a way to be involved at the school. Since joining PTA, I have learned about the advocacy role PTA plays at the state and national levels. I have rejoined every year to continue building relationships between the school and parents. I enjoy seeing the difference we have made at the school and seeing the things we have provided for the students and school. I also like being a bigger voice to our state and national policy makers. That’s why I PTA!

What are the benefits of joining PTA?
There are many advantages of joining the PTA! It provides a wonderful opportunity to connect and collaborate with community members who share our dedication to WMS students and staff. Research shows that participating in your child's school and showing engagement helps them perform better academically. Our PTA puts on programs and events that bring our school together as a community and enrich learning. As a member of the WMS PTA, you’ll receive information from local, State and Federal levels on how we can advocate and influence legislators on behalf of children, families and schools.
What is expected of me as a member?
We strongly encourage all members to attend our monthly meetings, actively participate in voting, and volunteer their time. Additionally, we hope you’ll consider joining any of our committees, where you can contribute and assist in areas where help is needed. Your involvement and support are vital to the success of our PTA and the positive impact we can make for the WMS community.
Are members required to attend every meeting?
We completely understand that life can get busy! Attending our meetings is highly beneficial as it allows you to stay informed about important updates and events throughout the school year. We encourage you to join us whenever you can, as your input is always valued.
What happens at a PTA meeting?
During our monthly meetings, we engage in discussions about past and upcoming events, fundraisers, and activities. We also share committee reports, review the budget, and have the opportunity to meet with teachers and staff. We want to make these meetings as convenient for everyone, so feel free to bring your dinner and kids along. We understand the demand of busy lives and want to create a welcoming and accommodating environment for all.
Are members required to volunteer?
Volunteering is not a requirement of membership! Your level of involvement is your choice. You can give with your time and talents or through donations. We encourage members to participate at a level that’s comfortable for them!
How can I keep up with the PTA?
There are multiple channels of communication available to keep everyone updated. You can follow us on Facebook and Instagram, subscribe to our email list, and attend our meetings. We will use all of these platforms to share information about volunteer opportunities, donation drives, fundraising events, and more. By staying connected through these channels, you'll receive timely updates and be well-informed about all the happenings within our PTA community.
