Timeline

February 2016 - PNP Track lobbies Wellington City Council to resurface the track. WCC later confirms such work 'not in plan'. PNP goes it alone.

January 2017 - PNP pays for a section of the track resurfaced by concrete specialist with mixed results. Research into a new acrylic and latex solution begun.

April-August 2017 - Club engagement with Wellington City Council to agree on proposed solution. WCC endorses the acrylic and latex option.

September-January 2017 - Endorsements for the project rolls in from Sport NZ, Cycling NZ, and Sport Wellington.

May 2018 - The search for project funding begins.

July 2018 - PNP Cycling Club agrees in principle to contribute club funds to the resurfacing cost.

September 2018 - First grant application submitted.

December 2018 - Grant approved by the Infinity Foundation for the first part of the work involving cleaning, grinding and filling some of the worst bumps. Contracts with Wellington City Council, PNP Cycling Club and vendors KiwiCourts signed.

January 2019 - Part one works completed by KiwiCourts over the space of two weeks.

February - November 2019 - Grant applications for part 2 submitted. This portion of the works will see the vendors apply another three layers of resurfacing material and paint the lines. Grants gratefully received from NZ Community Trust, Pelorus Trust, Four Winds, Lion Foundation and Racing Industry Transition Agency.

December 2019 - Vendors KiwiCourts booked in for part 2 of the resurfacing work, contract signed and deposit paid. The Resurfacing Project Team have agreed that the small funding shortfall should not get in the way of the works.

24 February 2020 - KiwiCourts start work on part 2, almost finishing the job until Covid-19 and lockdown got in the way.

October 2020 - job is finished and launched with the Laykold Cup Carnival on 1 November.
