A farm or business that raises bees to produce honey is call an Apiary. The name of our Apiary is "Well I Bee"
My journey with honey bees began one Christmas when my son, daughter-in-law, and grandkids gifted us boxes to start a beehive. Little did I know, this gift would spark an adventure that has been both fascinating and full of excitement.
Eager to dive in, I enrolled in an online Beekeeping 101 class to get started. It turned out to be an incredibly valuable investment of my time.
Then came the challenge of sourcing some bees. Fortunately, I have an elderly neighbor who kept beehives on his property to maintain an agricultural exemption, I reached out to him. Suspecting the hives had been neglected, I offered to manage them. He was delighted to have me take over, provided the hives stayed on his land. When we inspected the hives, we discovered that only two were still active with bees.
Our primary objective is to transform our beekeeping hobby into a business that sells honey and honey products. We aim to keep our honey as natural as possible by utilizing the wildflowers and local trees around us, which will give our honey its distinctive local flavor.
