On the way to Cinque Terre, we stopped in a small town to tour their olive oil co-op. We saw the facilities and enjoyed a delicious lunch that was olive oil forward. This was one of my favorite parts of the whole trip! Pro-tip: There is no such thing as "first press" olive oil; there is only one press and then you are done!

Arriving in Cinque Terre felt like stepping into yet another magical world. The serpentine road leading to the coast was lined with terrace farming and physics-defying structures clinging to the mountain sides. When we stepped out of the train platform and saw the ocean for the first time, the "I can't believe we're here"-meter topped out at a 11.

The next day, the hike from Monterosso to Vernazza was one of our favorite parts of this stop.

There are over 500 steps up the cliffside headed to Vernazza. Worth it!
