Volunteer Arrival and Training

Volunteers are asked to arrive at JA North in St. Paul one hour prior to student arrival for an onsite volunteer training, facilitated by our Experiential Learning Center staff. Before students arrive, JA staff will conduct volunteer training. Don’t hesitate to ask questions during training or throughout the day. We are here to help you – which, in turn, will help the students have a more successful visit.

JA staff are available to assist and answer questions throughout the entire day!

Student Arrival 

Upon arrival, the class will gather for a brief orientation and then will split into their “home base” shops to begin the day. They’ll receive an iPad and create an avatar that will be assigned a random life scenario. Each life scenario includes a job, monthly income, credit score, marital status, and potentially children.

JA Staff will be in charge of the schedule, including transitions and announcements, to ensure that the day runs smoothly.  See below for an example schedule of a typical JA Finance Park day:
