What do volunteers do at JA Finance Park?
Volunteers serve as facilitators and mentors during the JA Finance Park day.
Using the volunteer guide that we will walk through during volunteer training, you will facilitate discussions/activities and provide instructions to a small group of 5-7 students as they each receive randomly generated personas and make financial decisions with those profiles.
As mentors, you’ll layer in connections and personal stories to help bring this learning to real life. Your support helps students build confidence, decision-making, and real-world understanding that will stick with them for years to come!

1. Register on VolunteerHub per your customized link.
2. Attend the onsite volunteer training on the day of your visit. Your provided arrival time is usually one hour before students arrive.
3. Get excited to support young people!

JA Finance Park is located at the Junior Achievement North Hemak Center, at 1745 University Ave W, St. Paul, MN 55104.

Do I need to have a background in finance to be a successful volunteer?
Not at all! We only expect you to be yourself and share as little or as much as you like in order to relate real life examples to their learning during the simulation.
The financial learning at JA Finance Park is mostly built around the big picture budgeting experiences we all encounter in our lives: balancing wants and needs, weathering unexpected costs, and planning for the future. If you’ve encountered any of these things, you’ll make a great volunteer!
If I am a Family member of a student, will I see my student at JA Finance Park?
If I am a Family member of a student, will I see my student at JA Finance Park?
Yes, although you will likely not be in the same small group as your student. You will see them throughout the day, though, as the students move around the space!

There are no vending machines or lunch provided. Please bring your own lunch and beverage, if desired. There is a volunteer break room with tables, chairs, refrigerator, and microwave available for your use.

Students learn best with an engaged volunteer – and you’ll have more fun, too! We expect you to give your full attention to the students while you are volunteering and keep time on your phone to a minimum.
